Real Catholic TVI recently had a terrible experience moving to a new home. With time, most people tend to amass diverse items. These include home or kitchen appliances, and clothing. This article hopes to enlighten home movers on packing of fragile items such as photo frames, canvas, sculptures, mirrors and paintings. Use Appropriate Tools for Packing. Learn from my mistakes and make sure to pack your delicate items carefully! To start off, put together a collection of requisite material used in packing delicate material. Included in this list are felt pens, Styrofoam, mailing labels, tape dispensers, boxes of top quality cardboard, packing tape, crumpled paper, babble wraps and packing paper. Clay and Glassware Items. These items require separate packing prior to stuffing into packing boxes. You should make sure that the boxes in which you pack these items are secure and can hold the weight of the items. To make the items secure, place enough shredded paper or bubble wraps to fill half the space in the box. This creates a shock- absorbent layer that helps to protect the items. Glasses require crumpled paper for support from the inside. Packing paper comes in handy in propping outer surfaces. Between them, place enough crumpled paper for padding. If you have picture frames more than three feet long, prop them with blankets prior to packing them in paper. Specialty Pieces, Mirrors and Artwork. Glass on mirrors and artwork items tend to move. Therefore, tape them securely all across. After that, use Styrofoam corner securing material and bubble wraps to protect outer sections of the glass. Place ample bubble wraps and padding prior to placing artwork and mirrors in boxes and art crates provided by movers. For specialty items such as washbasins, d. Bubble wrap these items completely before placing a cardboard piece on top and another at the bottom before wrapping them twice with tape to attain maximum safety. There is a high risk of damages occurring when moving. Special attention must therefore go into ensuring they reach their new location intact.
